This interior deliverance was soon mirrored on the grand stage of history. On November 23, 2025, the Solemnity of Christ the King, an assembly convened at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Sovana, Italy—the birthplace of Hildebrand, the great Gregorian reformer Pope Gregory VII. There, an election by true Apostolic Right was accomplished, elevating the Holy Father, Pope Hildebrand, to the chair in exile. This event brought immense joy to those participating in the novena; a victory beautifully sealed by the Holy Father's moving Urbi et Orbi address on Christmas Eve.

It is entirely natural to wonder how a small, isolated flock can survive when the Church appears so compromised. Yet, when Pope Nicholas II attached a promise of absolution to those who refuse allegiance to a compromised front, he was providing the lifeline needed for the walk across the stormy sea. By putting one practical foot in front of the other, anchoring our days in meticulous vocal prayer for the Consecration of Pope Hildebrand, we are already participating in the victory.

In an era where the true Chair of Peter is hidden and impeded, the faithful are plunged into an acute spiritual fog of war. The greatest trial of the Church today is not physical persecution, but the crushing psychological burden of discernment.

Promulgated in 1059 to permanently secure the independence of the Papacy from secular manipulation, the historic Bull of Pope Nicholas II serves as a foundational and magisterial legal anchor for the faithful during times of canonical confusion. This document provides an objective baseline, particularly when the standard electors, the College of Cardinals, might forfeit their rightful office by conducting an unlawful election, as was the case during the Conclave of May 7 -8, 2025, when the number of electors exceeded the maximum number of 120 and which had no valid result. The most brilliant and forward-thinking aspect of In Nomine Domini is its provision for crisis, war, or exile. Pope Nicholas II legally anticipated that times would come when the physical city of Rome would be occupied by adversaries or hostile forces, making a normal, public enthronement impossible.

The Bull explicitly decrees that if war or the malice of men prevents the Cardinals from gathering in Rome for a traditional public election, the Cardinal-Bishops, along with religious clergy and Catholic laity, retain the absolute legal right to elect a Pontiff in whatever location they deem practically safe, even if that location is completely hidden, obscure, or underground.

Last week I made a pilgrimage to the home of the first English Martyrs known as the Charterhouse of London. It was once a magnificent Carthusian monastery dating to 1371. The stone arch in the photo is the only surviving entrance to the original 14th century monks’ cells. It leads to Cell B, one of the original 25 hermitage rooms built around the Great Cloister. It contains two carved shields displaying the coat of arms of wealthy donors who paid for the cell’s construction in exchange for the monk’s prayers. The top of the stone arch once featured carved Latin verses which were later hammered out by workers during the dissolution of the monasteries under orders of King Henry VIII.

In April, 1534, Royal commissioners arrived at the monastery demanding the monks swear an oath recognizing Anne Boleyn as the legal queen in the Act of Succession, declaring Henry’s marriage to Catherine invalid. Prior John Houghton initially tried to deflect, stating that the King’s marital affairs “pertained not to his vocation,” but he was nevertheless sent to the Tower. He was released after agreeing to sign with a loophole clause: “as far as the law of Christ allows” (originally phrased in Latin as “quatenus licitum esset” or “in so far as the law of God permits”). Since Catholic doctrine states that the “law of Christ” does not allow a king to override the Pope, the clause effectively nullified the oath’s heretical parts in the eyes of the monks. Houghton’s second arrest, along with two visiting Carthusian priors, Robert Lawrence and Augustine Webster, came in 1535 when the stricter Act of Supremacy made it mandatory to recognize the King as the absolute Supreme Head of the Church of England. The three priors decided to approach chief minister Thomas Cromwell together, hoping for an explicit religious exemption from taking the oath. Instead of granting it, Cromwell viewed their petition as a conspiracy of treason, arrested them immediately and sent them through the Traitor’s Gate into the Tower of London. They were executed together at Tyburn on May 4, 1535 via hanging, drawing, and quartering. In a brutal attempt to terrify the remaining monks into submission, Henry VIII ordered one of Houghton’s severed arms to be nailed directly to the gateway of the London Charterhouse: the hand he would have used to sign the Oath.

After seeing in person the destruction of the former Carthusian monastery, I reflected on the depth of the narcissism of Henry VIII. The martyrs of England paid the full price for the King’s assault upon Holy Mother Church, through brutal torture, and ultimately, with their lives. If asked to do so by Our Lord, I wondered how I would face such persecution?

In preparation for this trip, I made the decision to bury my King James Version Bible and Book of Common Prayer, both engraved with my maiden name and given to me in childhood by my grandfather who was an Episcopal priest. I drove to the site of a former Catholic Church where the Mass was celebrated in the ancient rite, wielded the shovel and placed them in consecrated earth. I have been a Catholic for almost 30 years, but somehow I neglected to do this until now. It was a pious act of restitution.

Having arrived back in the United States from the trip to England, I attended Mass today at St. Louis IX Catholic Church in Buffalo, NY where my family is visiting. It was a reverent novus ordo Mass offered in this architectural gem completed in 1889:

Yet, there in the Narthex of this church was a life-size cardboard pop-up of antipope Leo! And, of course, the name Leo was mentioned out loud in the Canon of the Mass. Outrageous!

Returning to the English Martyrs: in the face of such absurdity, there arises the question, “what form of persecution is Our Lord proposing to me today?”

What if there was a cardboard pop-up of King Henry VIII in this church and his name was mentioned in the Canon? Would we all just turn aside and utter some excuse to ourselves about duty to our family and need for the Sacraments? Is it any different?

How long have you been aware of the invalid resignation of Pope Benedict XVI? For myself, I have known since 2017. Nine long years. This was followed by the valid election of Pope Francis - Part 1 and Part 2 With Evidence and Miracles Proving his election by the Faithful on January 30, 2023.

I tried to speak to as many Catholics as possible during those years, although my early efforts were admittedly rather timid. I was given the brush off by the laity repeatedly.

Then, in 2025, following the death of Pope Francis, the College of Cardinals perpetrated a fraud, claiming to have a dispensation to include 133 electors in the Conclave of May 7 - 8, which they could not lawfully obtain during a sede vacante, following the death of Pope Francis. The papal law of Universisi Dominici Gregis, promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1996 allowed for no more than 120 electors. Therefore, The Cardinals of the Catholic Church Elected an Antipope on May 8, 2025.

This was devastating. For myself, the summer and fall of 2025, were spiritually arduous: I prayed incessantly for the election of a true successor of St. Peter by Apostolic Right. When the Cardinals have all forfeited their right, this is the remedy given to the Church by Pope Nicholas II in the Bull promulgated in the year 1059. It is known as In Nomine Domini.

After completing a 90 day Rosary Novena along with the readers of FromRome.info and a personal novena to St. Alphonsus Ligouri, I woke up to the joyous news on November 23, 2025 of Habemus Papam! And, the news that the Holy Father has taken the regnal name of Hildebrand.

Then, following the Christmas season which included the first Urbi et Orbi Address of Pope Hildebrand, I began to make arrangements to meet with the rector of my church to inform him of the election, which I did in January, 2026. He responded with a vague acknowledgment of the canonical crisis which is “above his paygrade.”

In the following months, as I proceeded to continue singing in the choir after this meeting, I hoped that perhaps I had discharged my duty. Yet, I noticed that I had fallen very ill during the spring months with coughing that could not be remedied. Then, on Maundy Thursday, this priest with whom I met in January, gave a stern homily directed at anyone who would criticize “Pope” Leo. It was only then that I realized that God Punishes Those Who Knowingly Defend an Antipope. And, I realized that I was falling under this punishment by continuing to attend this church where the rector has been informed of the election of Hildebrand, yet chooses to disregard it. So, I had to leave this beautiful Traditional Latin Mass, but consequently I recovered my health!

Last month I wrote to the Bishop of my Diocese who was appointed by Antipope Leo to inform him of his illicit appointment, but valid consecration. I informed His Excellency, in a respectful manner of Pope Hildebrand’s Notice on the Reintegration of Catholic Clergy and Religious. I delivered the letter in person to the Chancery.

Finally, what does the Oath of Supremacy of King Henry VIII have to do with our times, dear reader? If you have read this far, it is evident that all Catholics today who attend Mass and receive the Sacraments, have implicitly taken an Oath of Supremacy of Antipope Leo. If you do not believe you have, try to schedule a meeting with your pastor to inform him that you do not adhere to Pope Leo and see what happens, first in your own psyche, and then, if you go through with it, what sort of response you receive from Catholic clergy. I propose that speaking to a priest outside of confession is entirely different, because he is not bound by the seal and your claims are more likely to be taken seriously. You could find yourself having to attend Mass elsewhere. Then, you might have an answer as what form of persecution Our Lord is asking of you.

It is a detailed meditation on the words of Our Lady of La Salette who gives her adopted children a warning to expect two worm-ridden popes in the future. According to the author, it is significant that she is wearing a crown when she appears to the children in 1846. We are invited to look at the Papal laws which govern papal elections and how these pertain to our Lady’s Warning. When read in this way, we can clearly see the implications of a Pope Restorer and the election of Hildebrand. Our Lady said there would be two worm-ridden popes. Therefore,

“after two worm ridden popes it would be IMPOSSIBLE that Cardinals elect a true pope, since most or all of them would be illegitimately appointed or in schism from Christ for having supported or created or defended fake popes.”

So, there must be another way.

And, the Catholics of Rome followed the Magisterial teaching found in the Bull of Pope Nicholas II, In Nomine Domini, in electing Hildebrand on November 23, 2025.

In the article linked below by Br. Alexis Bugnolo, it is recalled the events of May, 1058 in which St. Hildebrand together with St. Peter Damien and Cardinal Umberto of Selva Candida, brought about the election of Pope Nicholas II by an Apostolic Assembly outside of Rome in the city of Siena.

1058 the Year Saint Hildebrand Saved the Catholic Church Forever

It was Pope Nicholas II, in the promulgation of the Papal Bull In Nomine Domini, who gave the Church the remedy for what to do in the case of an unlawful election by the College of Cardinals:

§ 3. Wherefore, if the perversity of depraved and iniquitous men, so prevail, that a pure, sincere and free election cannot be held in the City, let the Cardinal Bishops with the religious Clerics, and the Catholic laity, though few, obtain the right of power (ius potestatis) to elect the Pontiff of the Apostolic See, where they might judge it to be more fitting. Plainly, after the election has been completed, if there be a bellicose conflict, and/or if the struggle of any kind of men resists by the earnestness of wickedness, such that he, who has been elected, cannot prevail to be enthroned in the Apostolic See according to the custom, nevertheless, let the elect obtain as Pope the authority to rule the Roman Church and to dispose of all Her faculties, which Blessed Gregory, We know, did, before his own consecration.

And this remedy has been carried out. Following the invalid Conclave of May 8, 2025, the Cardinals were given ample opportunity to repent of their false claim to have had a dispensation from the law restricting electors to no more than 120 (Universi Dominici Gregis of Pope JPII).

Following the Magisterial teaching of Pope Nicholas II, an Apostolic Assembly was convened on November 23, 2025, the Feast of Christ the King and of St. Clement of Rome.
